No! Tooth loss is not a normal and unavoidable part of aging.
With good oral hygiene and regular professional care, your teeth are meant to last a lifetime. However, if left untreated, periodontal (gum) disease can lead to tooth loss.
Gum Disease is the primary cause of tooth loss in adults 35 and over.
Periodontal disease is one of the most common oral infections, which often affects young people: in 1995 Bochniak et al. reported that only 18.5% of the teenage population examined in their study had shown a healthy periodontal tissue.
In the group aged between 35 and 44 years, the frequency of healthy periodontal tissue was reduced to 6.3%. Because of its high incidence, they concluded that periodontal disease could be counted among social diseases.

Why do you ask? Did someone suggest that you need one? Simply put a crown is a dental restoration that goes over a tooth to protect it much as a motorcycle helmet protects the head. However, with our Cerec technology we can often rebuild and strengthen your tooth without the need for a crown.
Why is that important to you? Did someone recommend that for you? The process varies with each person's situation. Some people need a single tooth replaced while others need several or more. Contact us for a consultation so we can evaluate your individual case and we will determine the best treatment. Financial options are always discussed in detail to help you get what you want and need.
Medicaid and Medicare do not cover dentistry at this time; however, we have multiple financial options available so that is not an issue.

There are several forms of digital imaging we use at Loveable Smiles. We use Dexis digital x-rays which enable us to have instant x-rays of your teeth with very little radiation compared with conventional x-ray films. The sensors are also much more comfortable and the x-rays are extremely quick and easy. Additionally, we have an i-CAT x-ray machine to enable us to have 3-D digital x-rays of your entire head and neck area, again with very little radiation. It takes only 8.9 seconds and is completely outside the mouth! Being digital, all these records are easily transferred to a disk and can be emailed.
The Waterlase is one of the lasers we use at Loveable Smiles. It uses water with the laser to create hydrophotonic energy that enables us to treat many different dental problems painlessly, quickly and better than any other way. Check out the link in our Technology section above for more information.
As the metal fillings that were used for more than 150 years are more than half Mercury and cause problems for the teeth, we no longer use them. There are a multitude of materials available for us that enable us to better restore teeth, give people longer-lasting and far more natural-looking results. Loveable Smiles recognized the problems with metal and has been using the more modern materials for more than 25 years.

The largest cost is due to neglect and procrastination that have created bigger and more extensive problems. The best way to keep costs as low as possible is to have a comprehensive plan made for you at Loveable Smiles that will restore your mouth to Optimum Dental Health and then to follow the maintenance plan we design specifically for you. You will be happy to hear that Loveable Smiles was awarded the Dallas Business Journal's North Texas Business Ethics Award in 2010. We feel that our integrity is above reproach and is the most important thing we have. You can be sure that we will always be honest and direct with you and explain things in ways that are completely understood by our friends and patients. We believe in following the "Platinum Rule" which is better than the "Golden Rule". This means that we not only treat you as WE would like to be treated, we treat you the way YOU want to be treated.
We're very sorry for your previous bad experiences. As all of us here at Loveable Smiles (yes, even the doctor) have been patients and hate any discomfort or pain, we have many ways to painlessly treat you. Dr. Korenman has developed a way of numbing teeth that astounds patients as they often ask when he is going to inject them AFTER he's already done it! We also have medications available ranging form mild "relaxing drugs" like nitrous oxide (gas) to stronger Sedation Dentistry drugs that enable you to sleep during the procedures. Most of our fearful patients tell us after they have had their treatments that this was the first time in their lives that they actually enjoyed their visits and were able to sleep the night before without the fear that had previously kept them awake.
Please contact us immediately! We will perform a painless Oral Cancer examination and determine the best course of action for you. Click on the Contact Us link and we will appoint you.
Loveable Smiles believes that your comfort is very important. Everyone here understands how crucial it is that we are gentle and you will find that Dr. Korenman and our team will make you feel so comfortable that you won't believe you are in a dental office. We all feel that is normal and the way it should be. If a person feels the slightest discomfort they simply raise one finger and we STOP and make sure that they are made comfortable. We have the best anesthetics and we even use a reversal medicine afterwards so you don't have to have a "numb mouth" for hours. It really helps, especially for those who need to have meetings and speak well or are needing to eat.

- Tooth loss linked to increased stroke risk
- Gum (periodontal) Disease may be early warning sign of cardiovascular disease
- Periodontal Disease as a Risk Factor for Ischemic Stroke
Studies suggest a strong link between gum disease (periodontal disease) and cardiovascular disease*.
Periodontal disease may lead to adverse events, such as heart attack and stroke.
Tooth loss and periodontal disease may increase the risk of ischemic stroke. Ischemic strokes result from a blockage in an artery leading to the brain. They are the most common type of stroke. The link between ischemic stroke and periodontal disease, which is caused by bacterial infections, adds another piece to the growing body of evidence that infection plays a role in stroke and heart disease.
Preliminary findings in several ongoing scientific studies suggest a link between tooth loss and sub-clinical atherosclerosis - the symptomless buildup of artery-clogging plaque in the carotid arteries, the vessels that feed the brain.
* From Periodontal Disease as a Risk Factor for Ischemic Stroke
The established risk factors do not fully account for the risk of stroke. Recently, chronic infectious diseases, including periodontal disease, were also linked to stroke risk. Gingivitis and periodontitis are among the most common human infections.
Gingivitis can develop within days and includes inflammatory changes of the gingiva most commonly induced by accumulation of dental plaque. Periodontitis results from a complex interplay between chronic bacterial infection and the inflammatory host response, leading to irreversible destruction of tooth-supporting tissues, with tooth loss as a common end point.
Periodontitis is associated with elevated markers of inflammation that are themselves indicators of stroke risk. Bacteria from periodontal pockets can enter the bloodstream during activities such as chewing or tooth brushing,4 and periodontal pathogens were identified in carotid plaques, but their role in atherogenesis is not yet understood.
